I have to laugh - I mean seriously, who vacations in Fargo North Dakota? Apparently I do - and I love it! Ha!
I woke up in Billings MT and spent the entire day riding my wonderful motorcycle across the beautiful state of North Dakota. It is definitely flat but the golden fields, the rivers and lakes, the sunflowers and dark green corn and other plants, the perfectly built fences and horses and the trees that line the rivers - gorgeous! And I loved the feeling of riding across the top of the United States - I could look to my right and all of the United States was down there. I do love this country.
I did have to skirt a huge and intense storm that looked to be pretty bad down south in South Dakota and Colorado and was glad that I got out before it rolled in!
Of course the fire I drive right next to could use a good rain storm.
All in all it was a good day but also quite emotionally tough as well. Today was the first day I've been completely alone on this trip since Day 1 in Marion IL. It's hard to go from being a part of a tight group, be it a group of 2 or of 6, for over 2 weeks and to then be completely alone in North Dakota. Don't get me wrong - I am really glad this is how God had it planned for me. I need to feel the goodness of being alone and the joy that can come with solitude. It's very healthy and it clears the mind - both of which I need. I am going to love these last 12 days. And I am very lucky in another regard as well - the person I am alone with us me and I do love me. I mean seriously, what is not to love about a guy who goes to Fargo ND in vacation? What a hoot!
