Day 21 - Mat and the amazing Wisconsin

So there I was, motoring along the coast of Lake Superior when I saw a State Park that was supposedly one of the most beautiful rides along a lake in the country. So I took a left, drove forever to get to the coast, and then was motoring along the shore feeling all proud if myself when I realized I had forgotten all about gas! I looked and I was into the reserves which meant I had about 30 miles of gas left. Since they don't build gas stations inside smaller parks, I knew my only chance was to hope the way I was going would get me to a town In the next few miles (which I doubted because the shore was beautiful). I pull over to look at my map and take some pictures. I saw this guy in the parking lot so I asked him how far the next gas station was. All he could say was he want sure but "far". I thought I was doomed! AAA was going to take forever to get way out here. But just then Mat pulled out a 2 1/2 gallon jug of gas from his SUV which we out in my bike and I was saved! Mat, you were an angel!! Thank you so very much.

    Mat the Angel!

Getting that close to catastrophe wakes you up and so I realized I had silly dallied around so long that now I needed to make a straight line to Waukesha WI to meet Julie and Tony for dinner. So that's what I did - I jumped over to the main roads and made it to Pewaukee WI by 7:30 pm.

It was a really nice area, right on a cool
Lake. Too bad the weather was so poor.

After that it was bed time so I ride home and checked into my room. Not the most exciting day but catastrophe was avoided and that made it a good day.

    Gloomy day
