The wake up call came at 4:30 am and marked the beginning of of the end to a remarkable 10 days. Since Beth arrived last Saturday the two of us have been inseparable and have experienced this amazing country from up close - these amazing National Parks, the good in the people who live here and of course the amazing spirit that lives within these lands. It is a deep and primal pull to move here to be close to these lands.
Our tour guide Evelyn told us a story of a great Chief who traveled a great distance to come to this place and seek clarity from his God on the top of Chief Mountain. After a number of days he found what he was looking for and went home. May God bless both Beth and myself with this gift as well.
I took Beth to the airport, gave her a big hug and said a tearful "I'll see you later". It was very hard. I love you Beth and I can't wait to see you again in 2 weeks. Thank you for sharing this time with me out here in this wilderness - you are a true and wonderful friend.
I rode back to the hotel and took a quick nap. At 10:30 am I got an oil change for Sally, met my friends and we headed south along Hwy 89. We rode for about 6 hours stopping in small towns for a bite to eat and some gas until we got to Billings MT for the night. Mary's daughter lives in Billings and Jenny joined us for dinner at Jakes which was delicious.
This day was also the end of my time with Sam and Kristie and Steve and Mary as well. They are heading home and I am turning back east towards Minnesota. A lot of "see you later" today. Tomorrow starts Chapter 4.
